General Information

Conference venue
The conference will be held at Tampere Hall, address: Yliopistonkatu 55, 33100 Tampere, Finland.

All conference hotels locate at walking distance to Tampere Hall, shuttle bus service will not be provided.


Tampere Hall
Conference secretariat and technical assistance
The conference secretariat will be located at the registration desk in the entrance of the Tampere Hall. The personnel will be happy to help you, if you have questions concerning, for example, registration, hotel bookings, social events or transportation.

You will recognize the Local Organizers and the conference assistants from their light blue badges. The room for technical assistance can be found in the main entrance hall, near the registration desk. Speakers are asked to contact the technical assistants well in advance the time of their presentation; preferably the day before.

Registration hours at Tampere Hall
The registration desk will be open as follows:
Sunday 2 September 15:00-20:30
Monday 3 September 07:30-17:00
Tuesday 4 September 08:30-17:00
Wednesday 5 September 08:30-14:00

Exhibition
The Exhibition is located in the foyer next to the lecture rooms. Please, take your time to see what the exhibition has to offer. The exhibition will be open on Monday thru Wednesday during the conference hours.

Incoming messages and message board
The registration desk's telephone number is int+358-3-243 4120. When calling in Tampere, dial only 243 4120. During conference registration hours this number can also take incoming messages for conference participants.

Messages received by the registration desk will be posted on the message board located in the entrance hall. Participants may also use the board to leave messages for other delegates.

E-mail service
An Internet connection with www- and e-mail service locates in the main entrance hall. There are also two computers for Internet browsing at Cafe Soolo.

Photocopying
Photocopying service is available at Tampere Hall. For details and prices, please contact the registration desk.

Parallel conference
Together to the 4th Regional APCOM 2001 symposium will be organized a parallel symposium, the 14th International ICAMC Conference, ICAMC 2001. Opening ceremony, lunches and coffee breaks, social events and technical excursions will be organized together. This will enable you to meet more colleagues than before. Take an advantage of this opportunity!

Conference publications
All accepted papers will be published in the Proceedings Book which is given to all delegates upon registration. CD-rom of the Proceedings Book can be ordered supplementary in advance. Price EUR 20, distribution at the registration desk.

Badges and tickets
Please wear your name badge at all times; it is your entrance ticket to lecture sessions. No badge, no entry! If you have lost your badge or left it at your hotel, please contact the registration desk and ask for a new badge (at a cost of EUR 5 per badge).

Registration fee for participants includes:
  • Admission to all scientific sessions

There is no special fee or program for accompanying guests. Accompanying guests may not enter the lecture rooms. They are welcome to join the social events by paying the events’ fees in advance:
  • Get-Together Party - EUR 30
  • City Reception - free of charge
  • Conference Dinner - EUR 70
Refreshments
Coffee and lunches are included for all delegates. Please show your delegate badge, which is your coffee ticket. Lunch tickets have been given upon the registration.

Café Soolo
Café Soolo on the 1st level of Tampere Hall is open on Sunday at 12-21, Mon-Wed at 8.00-22.00. Coffee, refreshments, beer, drinks, and ice cream will be available. Newspapers in English are available for reading.

Smoking in Tampere Hall is allowed only in Café Soolo.

First aid and pharmacy
There is a first aid room in Tampere Hall. If you need help, please contact any of the conference assistants or Tampere Hall personnel. The nearest pharmacy (in Finnish 'APTEEKKI') is located at Itsenäisyydenkatu 17, only a few minutes' walk from Tampere Hall.

Conference language
The language of the conference will be English. No interpretation will be provided.
