Little reflection on our HackEurope submission and its future: during the weekend I attended with Nikolas Juhava, Niklas Keiski and Atte Laakso to HackEurope2026 at Stockholm.

Key points#

  • We tackled severe Parkinson’s Disease and deep brain stimulation.

  • Deep brain stimulation has up to 64 tunable parameters that Specialist hand-tune in procedure called DBS programming.

  • Our solution StimIQ let’s users systematically gather data at home on their condition.

  • Our engine optimizes the next DBS parameters for you using patient data.

  • With this setup we estimate that the number of required visits and time wasted doing manual tuning is reduced to 10%.

Future#

Currently we are in discussions with top Finnish researchers to actually bring this type of technology to the clinicians. We think that our approach has further applications to other BDS programming problems and personalized medicine.

I’ll keep you updated on the development, really existing times! In the mean time, enjoy our demo and preprint.
