What is this book for and How to read

This book explains what is laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS) imaging and how to do it. Content is split into two main pieces, instrumentation hardware and software in chapter 2, and analysis in chapters 3 and 4. Each chapter is designed to work on its own so feel free to skip to the chapters and sections you are interested in.

For a quick understanding of LIBS imaging, first check out the figures in chapters 1, 2 and 4 and then read either wikipedia articles linked in appendix 4 or first section of chapter 1 called LIBS imaging fundatmentals.

To know how to analyze LIBS experimental spectra, read chapters 6 and 3 and appendix A2.

For how to build a LIBS instrument read chapter 2.

To get LIBS datasets see appendix 1 and for details read chapter 3 sections on element and mineral references.
