Fig. 1.Stereo-pair of microvillar ezrin labelled with 10 nm gold particles. The specimen was
postfixed in GAOsTA. TA was usedto minimize shrinkage of the sample after GA fixation
(1). The raw IET data was processed with MEM.
Figs. 2a. A stereo-pair image ofmicrovillar ezrinand mucin. The specimen was postfixed in
GAOsTA. Ezrin was labelled with 10 nmand 1.4 nmgold conjugates and mucin with 5 nm
gold conjugates. Theraw IET data was processed with MEM. Ezrin labeled with 1.4 nm
particles are depicted by arrows. Arrow with ribbon shows clusters of 1.4 nm gold particles.
The intermediate size particles depict mucin labeled with 5 nm gold-conjugates.
Fig. 2b. is a detailof Fig. 2a showing a stereo-pair of 1.4 nm gold-clusters (arrow).
Fig. 2c shows details of a single 10 nmgold particle.
Fig. 3. IET with WBP (for comparison of the same microvilli as in Fig. 2). Gold-labels are
seen but the ET has less grayscale and is more noisy.
Fig. 4. A stereo-pair of microvillar ezrin and mucin without GAOsTA fixation. The specimen
was postfixed in GA and UA. Ezrin was labeled with 10 nm and 1.4 nm gold-conjugates and
mucin labeled with 5 nmgold-conjugates. The raw IET data was processedwith MEM. The
localiztion of 1.4 nmgold-conjugates is moredifficult than in Fig. 2.
