Welcome to lahjasivu!!!

on this little page i'd like to introduce you to the best frog: breviceps or the rain frog. this african genus of frogs is well known for their extremely round shape, angry faces and ability to squeak as a mating call. they're usually quite small at around 4-6cm :>>

breviceps adspersus, the common rain frog or bushveld rain frog, is sometimes kept as a pet (mostly in japan). like most frogs they're not territorial and can be kept together

the black rain frog breviceps fuscus is much darker in colour than it's relatives. it has distinctive lumps on it's skin, that are likely imitate the warts on toads. unlike toads the black rain frog is not poisonous

the desert rain frog breviceps macrops, like it's name suggests, lives on a particularly humid strip of desert on the coast of africa

unlike other frogs, rain frogs don't need water to survive or mate. after mating they burrow their eggs in the sand. their tadpoles develop into small frogs underground, and emerge on another rainy night :O

rain frogs can't jump. when threatened, they can puff themselves full of air and appear much larger, not unlike a pufferfish

rain frogs live in dry environments and spend most of their time burried in the sand. like many other frogs they're nocturnal. they come out to hunt or mate just before rain, which is where they got their name :>

rain frogs are ambush predators and most of their diet consists of small insects :)
