Jussi P.P. Jokinen, PhD (cognitive science), Adjunct Professor

Jussi P.P. Jokinen develops cognitive computational models of human behaviour. His long-term research passion is in creating psychologically plausible computational implementations of adaptive behaviour. His models examine human abilities and bounds in constrained task environments, thus demonstrating the ways that human behaviour is boundedly rational. He is also developing models of emotion and motivation in an attempt to demonstrate how boundedly rational behaviour is essentially and intrinsically "emotivational". The modelling work by Jokinen has been used in human-computer interaction research, where his models of adaptive user behaviour are used in understanding individual differences in behavioural responses to user interfaces, as well as in optimising interfaces for said individuals.
