About Mario
I’m a full professor (tenured) with the Department of Computer Science at Aalto University
I do research on network systems – broadly defined. My goal is to understand and develop software technologies. I’m also deeply interested in the design of efficient and practical solutions with impact on everyday life.
Myself in a nutshell
I’m currently interested in mobile augmented reality, distributed inference / learning, and the Internet of Things.
I joined Aalto University as a postdoctoral researcher in 2012. I entered the tenure track as assistant professor in August 2013 and became full professor in April 2022. I was a visiting associate research scholar with the Department of Electrical Engineering of Princeton University between December 2015 and April 2016, hosted by Mung Chiang.
Before Aalto, I was a research associate with the Department of Computer Science and Enginnering at the University of Texas at Arlington, hosted by Sajal K. Das. I received my bachelor, master, and PhD from the University of Pisa under the supervision of Giuseppe Anastasi.
