Research Fields:

My present scientific interests include:

  • Electronic structure calculations;
  • Atomistic simulations of various bulk and nanosystems at empirical potential, tight-binding and density-functional theory levels;
  • Interaction of energetic particles with nanosystems;
  • Growth of graphene and related materials;
  • Defects in carbon nanomaterials; effects of the irradiation on the mechanical and electronic properties of carbon nanomaterials;
  • Inorganic two-dimensional materials;
  • Magnetism in carbon systems doped with non-magnetic impurities such as nitrogen and hydrogen;
  • Theory of scanning tunneling microscope (STM); simulation of STM images of surfaces with various atomic-scale defects.
